         Pilates is a unique and ingenious way to get the most effective workout in the shortest amount of time. A system of pulleys springs and original equipment will perfectly sculpt, tone and align your body. During the session your instructor will be giving you detailed instruction. Over time your body will automatically get into proper alignment. Every workout is unique and challenges all muscles groups synergistically, thus your muscles are constantly being reshaped so your muscles will never reach their peak as with other exercise forms. Pilates is especially great for those who suffer from back pain (about 80% of the population). Pilates is core focused so it will tone your inner thighs, lower back, glutes and abs like nothing else and thus relieve back pain and misalignment issues (i.e. Rounded shoulders, rolling in or out in the feet, etc). In addition pilates will increase height (spine length), flexibility, and joint mobility. For athletes this means a longer life span for your joints, muscles and spine which is key to participation in any sport. Pilates will thus increase confidence, appearance and health for all.

     Pilates was invented by a talented man named Joseph H. Pilates, who was born in Germany in 1880. As a German intern in England during World War I, he designed a number of incredible machines using hospital beds and springs. In 1926, he moved to New York City with his wife and opened his own body-conditioning studio and called his exercise technique Contrology.
